The Best in Landscaping!

Seasonal Tips

- A healthy growing lawn should be cut every 3-5 days.
- Mow lawn to about 2-3 inches in height depending on the weather.

Cutting grass too short will cause it to turn brown and require more water.
- Keep your mower blade sharp!  Grass that is "shredded' rather than "cut" will appear brown and unhealthy.
- Water your lawn regularly, don't wait until it is parched, losing colour and praying for you to drop that nice cold bottle of water your carrying.  The best plan is a Yards by Steve in ground sprinkler system. You won't be tripping over the hose or watering your neighbours in their back yard, innocent people walking by, or your nice clean and polished vehicle, just your grass!
- If you are pressed for time and would like a low maintenance but beautifully manicured yard,
we can install, a variety of rock or bark in your beds to make weeding a snap!

- This is a great time to plant!
- Prune up your beds and get rid of debris, you'll appreciate it in the spring when things are a little muddy.
- Give your plants and trees a real good drink - it's a long winter!
- One more fertilizer application may be necessary.

- Keep the kids off of the "snow piles" which are really only bushes and plants with a little snow on top.

Broken and lop-sided bushes can be disappointing in the spring.
- To keep you and your guests "vertical" on the driveway or walkway - clear all snowfalls,
even light ones.  A little snow build up can easily be packed down by vehicle and foot traffic
to become an icy, bumpy accident waiting to happen.

This is also much harder to scrape off later than clear it when it falls.

- As anxious as you are to get your green thumb dirty, wait until your lawn is fairly dry before venturing out!  Mucky dents, footprints and butt marks in your beds (where you lost a boot and fell down), really aren't good for anybody!
- Rake your lawn just enough to make the grass stand up.
- Have Yards by Steve fertilize your lawn.
- Take a good look at your yard and decide which projects you want to tackle this summer, then
call Yards By Steve to get started or have Steve come look at your yard and help you decide where to start.
